a strong start, and a step back

check this out

It’s Day 15 of the last 100 Days of 2025!!!

The fire is lit….

I want you to join us if you haven’t.

But I don’t want to bug you either…. if I am bugging you, unsubscribe here:

We’re seeing some serious pounds flying off around here.

First, we have a brand new Century Bear in our midst.

Barbara hit 100 pounds down this week!!!

(Remember before my injury and hiatus when we tracked our Century Bears? We’ve got to get back to that!!)

Alice just checked in down 8.8 pounds. Teresa is down 8 in the last month. This past Saturday in our Deep Den check-in, Teresa was down 3.7 this week, Barbara down 3 pounds, Donna down 2, and Kathy down 1. Rosemary was down too. I was down!!!

(Those are the quick stats I found out there from the last few days.)

We’ve had a strong showing as we plow through these 100 days.

How’s it going for you? Send me an email!!!

A Step Back: The “Red Dot World”

Before we charge through these 100 days entirely, I thought it important to take a step back on my overall goal for everyone in this community, including you.

Sure, I’d like everyone to lose weight.

But there’s a critical element in all of this: Let’s lose weight AND be healthy and happy at that new healthy weight.

It’s a core premise of the holiday e-book and you might take a few minutes this week to check it out and ponder an important concept.

(Download that and save it. It is usually only for sale behind the paywall and I will delete this link.)

Read the concept of the “Red Dot World” in that e-book.

It’s the idea that we can get trim, but that we also may still be fighting with food and ourselves, struggling to keep from regaining.

I’m sure pretty much all of us have had this experience with past diets and past holiday seasons, and in the struggle, we can often regain.

Read through the concept. Look at that scatterplot in the e-book with the “Red Dot World.”

In past holiday seasons where have you been on the plot?

How can you get to the Green?

The e-book and these fall 2025 emails will help guide you.

These concepts have kept me from ending up right back at 280 pounds a number of times.

Go read the e-book!!!

Yes, I sent out haikus.. ;)

In some of the packages in the last few weeks, I included a somewhat unhinged surprise: Haikus.

A haiku is a Japanese poem with a very specific form: Three lines, a certain number of syllables per line, including nature and movement.

Yes, those were my attempts at haikus…

I am not sure anyone would know what they were without me telling them. (This is me telling you.) I am not sure they were good. But they were fun to write and so I wrote them (in cursive..).

Texas Bear Meet-Up October 11

Join fellow Bears in Texas in a couple of weeks, near Horseshoe Bay. Meet Kristie and Georgia in real life. Meet some other super-cool people. Here’s more: https://www.facebook.com/groups/EatLikeABear/posts/25002914025998656/

Here’s the last Texas Bear meet-up. (We all need to go to Texas!!!)

Maybe crazier than those haikus above

This weeks newsletter sponsor reminds me of a crazy ole story.

So I am here in California where the culture can be a little… different.

It’s extra-different these days… I joined my preacher daddy for lunch with his preacher friends and a conversation started about a sleep and pain remedy. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing there at lunch but I was learning an awful lot about the extreme science of taking a certain plant and turning it into drinks, cookies, and gummies. Cooking the plant and making an effective product is a science unto itself. I was really impressed at the technical kitchen skills these guys were batting around. (And, frankly, I was shocked that my own dad was there in the middle of it…)

In any case, our sponsor will grow the plant and then cook it up for us. No gardening or kitchen tech skills required.

Click around and check out their various offerings.

The sleep gummies have some other components, so be sure to check ingredients. I prefer the one with the herbs. It has a few carbs, but if I can’t sleep, I find the trade-off worth it.

Thanks to changing laws buying THC online is now 100% federally legal.

And when it comes to quality, reliability and ultimate convenience, Mood is leading the way…

Because, instead of memorizing confusing strain names – you simply choose how you want to feel: Creative, Social, Focused, Relaxed, Happy, Aroused, and more.

That’s it! See you soon.

P.S. Get strategic about your meals if you haven’t. The popular meal framework here at Eat Like a Bear will help with that. Grab the three-pack collection from the Bear Shop for more: https://thebearshop.life/products/three-pack-print-book-collection
