it's an amazing thing

really

We’ve made it to the year 2026

Not everyone has made it with us.

We lost Rozie and Gary and Jeanie this year in the Eat Like a Bear community.

We likely lost others.

But we made it to this day, and this is our opportunity for a new start.

My sense is that most of us (all?) have a complicated mix of problems we are working through. A refreshing new start gives us the chance to dial in with some renewed focus.

Many of us will be losing more weight, losing some weight we regained, or adapting our eating to a new set of health circumstances.

Help in 2026

Though I am not making new content in the coming months, the Eat Like a Bear archive of resources is out there and ready for this moment. It would honor me if you make ample use of it.

Explore the Eat Like a Bear YouTUbe channel with videos on what to eat and on the psychology of eating: https://www.youtube.com/@EatLikeABear

Search through community questions. Ask your own: https://www.eatlikeabearden.com/c/frequently-asked-questions/

Deep Den members should make use of the content library, where there are about 50 videos not on YouTube and additional e-books (including the draft of the Two-Meal Model e-book from spring 2024, right before my injury): https://www.eatlikeabearden.com/c/content-library/

There are a lot of tools out there and each of us needs to grab on to some and implement them every single day in 2026. That’s it. Simple. 🙂

2026 Focus on Good Day Strategies

As I wrote Tuesday, the big focus here in 2026 at Eat Like a Bear is what I call “Good Day Strategies.” These are the simple things you do on good days to make things a little easier for you on bad days.

It’s obvious.

(And also.. the simplest things to do are the simplest not to do….).

I discuss Good Day Strategies in this video how I have implemented the strategy daily over 15 years (now over 20 years):  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78HNxQnlAJ4

We’re implementing Good Day Strategies all through 2026, together here at Eat Like a Bear. You will hear far more about them from me than you will about salads and skillet dishes (though I’m definitely still eating them back here and you can ask me anything about them).

Good Day Strategies are so important that I hope you embrace the opportunity to build these structures for yourself. Deep Den members can bring a Plus1 to the Den this year to work on these structures together

The Deep Den is a paid member area, but I’ve got 20 bonus spots for people who are ready to implement. The bonus spots are for the next three months and if you implement and participate at least weekly in that time, you can stay in for the next quarter (and so on, through 2026 — a full year). To grab one of these 20 bonus spots (for the purpose of implementing Good Day Strategies), watch the video linked above. Here it is again: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=78HNxQnlAJ4

Grabbing a bonus spot is simple. Until the 20 spots are filled, respond to this email with two points:

  • Something that strikes you from that Good Days video I linked above — anything.

  • What Good Day Strategy you are considering implementing in the next month or so (this can be anything that makes sense for your own life)

I’m headed out right now for about five hours and then hope to find your email in the Bear inbox. 🙂

LIVE Video Wednesday

Join me for a public LIVE video to mark 2026, next Wednesday January 7 at 9 am Pacific. We’ll reflect on our progress in the last 100 days of 2026 and set intentions for the year to come.

That’s it!! Go be awesome!!!

P.S. A word from our sponsor….

The sponsor is ourselves… if you’ve missed the books…

Practice Your Meal Prep

Adopt some of these Ridiculously Big meals and get so good at prepping them that you beat my five minutes. 🙂 That’s the ultimate Good Day Strategy.

Get a book if you don’t have one. Amazon finally let us sell them there and currently has them on sale, so there is no real downside. (It sounds like you can even buy these books in Canada, and maybe even across the planet…who knows…)
