lesson from 1986
you learned it too ;)
It was a Saturday evening in 1986. The church was having a game night.
I had eaten at home but, of course, there was a spread of snacks on the table of the church hall, as you could always count on.
I had been learning to “just eat a bit” and knew that the Chex party mix had only about 50 calories if I just ate ¼ cup. Chex party mix was all the rage in 1986 and it sure was irresistible.
That 50 calories and ¼ cup of Chex party mix is not what landed me at 280 pounds years later. It was, in fact, my bigger problem was likely the seventeen other things I ate on that church hall table AFTER I ate the Chex party mix.
What I know forty years later is that certain foods awaken a hunger in us. Eating them will have us continue to eat despite not having any actual biological hunger.
These days I don’t touch these snack items because it simply takes more discipline to stop eating than it ever does to avoid eating it all in the first place. My life has gotten far easier and I have gotten thinner by recognizing this key point.
We’ll be discussing HUNGER in tomorrow’s LIVE video at 9 am Pacific, noon Eastern, right here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qmwww3Tcklk
Bring your ideas about how to end your meals and also tools you can use throughout the day to battle the hunger problem.
I’ll see you soon! I appreciate you.

P.S. Get strategic about your meals if you haven’t. The popular meal framework here at Eat Like a Bear will help with that. Grab the three-pack collection from the Bear Shop for more: https://thebearshop.life/products/three-pack-print-book-collection
