Simple, simple
and the only play

Spring is coming!
I’ll be emailing you throughout the year, checking in, often talking about “Good Day Strategies” to help with weight loss and maintenance, but if this is bugging you, be sure to unsubscribe.
Are you working on your structures?
I can’t even tell you how relieved I am to have “structures.” I developed structures for my eating and practiced them for years, preparing me for this season where my daily life is more challenging due to an injury.
I know what I need to eat to stay trim and that awareness helps keep me in some boundaries.
It’s the long game in health and wellness.
Simple structures
It’s really very simple: people who keep the weight off, have built structures to support good choices.
An obvious example of such a structure is a pantry that is free of potato chips.
Another example is having a collection of very formulaic meals that you know will not cause you to gain weight. Ideally, they are extremely easy to prepare and not too expensive. As times get tough and stressful, you can lean into these simple meals and know that you are not going to gain the weight back.
All of my meals are highly formulaic and that has been a key to my success. Here’s one of my salads that is ridiculously simple and inexpensive. I whip it up in five minutes in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTXP7Mf6qK4
We all need to set our lives up so that when times are hard, we actually need a less willpower and not more.
We need to build a giant moat around our weight and just keep making that moat bigger and deeper.
It’s a process that never really ends, but it is our only choice as we move forward and make the decisions that support our long-term health goals.
As we get a little bit of extra energy along the way? Reinvest that energy in building your moat! We’ve had this discussion in the Deep Den member area. https://www.eatlikeabearden.com/c/content-library/reinvest-your-energy-good-day-strategies
I should add that this photo below is my energetic self from two years ago. I’ll get there!
Built that moat first and then…
Add things here and there to help support yourself just a little bit more. I am currently working on a recovery area for myself in our apartment, with lots of little detailed items in it.
I’m not gonna lie… I try some of these bougie beverages and consider hand-crafting some myself. I may well do that one day, until then, I let someone craft them for me, like our newsletter sponsor right here..….
The Cozy Winter Ritual Behind My Energy and Glow ✨
Winter calls for rituals that actually make you feel amazing—and Pique’s Sun Goddess Matcha is mine. It delivers clean, focused energy with zero jitters, supports glowing skin and gentle detox, and feels deeply grounding on cold mornings. Smooth, ceremonial-grade, and crave-worthy, it’s the easiest way to start winter days clear, energized, and glowing from the inside out
That’s it! See you soon.

P.S. If you need additional help in 2026 here at Eat Like a Bear, I encourage you to grab a book or two. I spend most of my time each day in rehab for an injury and so I am not out on social media accounts fielding questions as I have in the past. (It’s okay. Don’t count me out! We’ll get this.) That said, the books have driven a lot of success in themselves. They are finally available on Amazon and on sale for the next week or two. Someone even bought one in Australia. What a world. They are also on sale. Here’s the Ridiculously Big Salad book: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1934712205
