Tasty Tuesday (Is that bag GOOD?)

have you considered this?

In partnership with

I’m a long-time advocate of “make your own meals” and definitely don’t lean into prepared foods.

EXCEPT…

You probably know I eat a lot of salads, pretty much mostly homemade, but last year I ate salad kits for 30 days and lost a good bit of weight.

Honestly, by the end of those 30 days I was ready to make my own again, but I noticed something very important in those 30 days that I tucked in my pocket:

When you completely rely on someone else, an eating boundary is ready-made for you.

Those salad kits have a clear boundary: whatever is in all of those little packets is all there is. There are no additional handfuls of sunflower seeds or bacon bits.

As long as the kit itself fits in your overall plan, it can be a really slick weight loss solution.

Doubly Easier

Salad kits as “easier” is obvious.

We all think of these kits as easier because someone else chops, cuts, and mixes for us.

But there’s a “not so obvious” way is probably more important: Those kits put a boundary around our eating.

Both of those “easiness factors” are really important for weight loss and for the long game of maintenance, but salad kits are obviously not the only path to get us there.

I got there back in 2017 by making my own meals within a very specific framework. The framework itself provided the boundaries, as I have described in books and videos for the last seven years.

We need to be looking for meals that are easy to prepare, nutritious, and satisfying enough that we can draw the line and walk away from food. It is the simplest and most complex thing we’ll ever work on. It’s a big focus this week in our Deep Den content area, so do dig in if you have access.

Tightening the Boundary

So that boundary that a salad kit can provide? The boundary may not be tight enough. Not all salad kits are equal. Not all meals are equal. (Obviously.) If you’re not getting the results you want, sometimes you’ve got to tighten it up even more.

That’s where I am right now.

You may need to tighten things up too.

It’s worth it. You’re worth it.

Speaking of Easier…

And so, as a total aside, there is an emerging class of tools to make things easier for us. They are based on AI technology. Yes, I am also wondering where artificial intelligence is all taking us, but I see a lot of little efficiency tools coming out daily. My issue is that I don’t have the time or energy to dig deep and curate it all for myself. That’s where our newsletter sponsor comes in: These guys keep us up to date on all of the new little tools coming out. Will some tools be junk? Absolutely. Will some save us a bunch of time and money? That’s what we’re looking for…
