Tasty Tuesday (Take Advantage of This)

it's the season!

It’s the season! We will have insane access to fresh produce across the United States for the next few months.

Take advantage of it.

Still hungry with your meals? Toss more zucchini or kale under it.

That photo up there? Take that dish and put a lot more squash in it if you need it to get through.

It’s never been the produce that has been the problem for most of us, but all the other stuff we add. Keep the sauce and dressing quantities the same, but add more produce. Stir it up a little more to incorporate it all.

That’s it.

Are you a “Diligent Implementer”?

Asked by Jenny in the Deep Den, we need to keep asking ourselves this question.

She quoted ME in the Jumpstart book. The characteristics of a Diligent Implementer are: Willing to make changes, taking personal control, strictness to the point of austerity, embracing the strictness, and not bending to social pressure. Here’s her post if you have access: https://www.eatlikeabearden.com/c/water-cooler/am-i-a-diligent-implementer

It’s time for us all to get diligent if we’re not reaching our goals. Yes, your path may be slower than someone else’s, but if you’re not meeting your goals AND you see the little things you could be doing better, go do those things.

I am learning that I need to be much more strict with my eating than I ever have been before. It’s a terrible realization because I’ve never been able to eat a whole lot. (We all feel that way.) In any case, I need to find happiness with less. That’s my path. It may be yours too.

We need to do the things that are going to get us there.

Energy-Sparing

“Energy Sparing” has been one of my personal themes this season as I choose my daily activities. I simply need to focus all of my energy on my daily activities that are going to move the needle in my health.

I need to get back to that photo above. It takes ENERGY to be on a beach taking photos of yourself jumping around.

That said, a big challenge for many of us is that times are really tough out there, competing for our energy. Economically, politically, and socially, the world is MESSY. At other times in my life I might have been more active on some of these issues. I thank the people who are active (on all sides), but I think a lot of us need to have the attitude of “put your own oxygen mask on first.”

I suspect there are a good number of us who need to spare our energy for our core health and we need to be Diligent Implementers.

P.S. #3 — Check out this curated list of pet insurance options with our second newsletter sponsor. (Yes, may I be able to pay my bills… 🥴 ) I don’t know about you, but these specialized insurance options were made for the internet era. I don’t know how I would have found this in 1988 walking into a broker.

Money . com has curated some options for you:

Only about 4% of U.S. pet owners have pet insurance

Pet care costs are rising, yet not enough people are doing something about it. Pet insurance can significantly offset rising costs – all for as low as $10 a month. Want to join the 4% club?
