Tasty Tuesday (what's in my bowl?... who cares!)

What’s in my bowl up there in that picture?

Who cares??? ;)

Okay, we DO need to CARE to meet our long-term goals in wellness…

However, it is easy to get overly-focused on that bowl and overlook a key point: We need to look far beyond the bowl to what we are doing with the rest of the day that does not involve bowls, plates, forks, and spoons.

Eating gives us an immediate pay-off and that’s why most of us eat way too much.

We simply have to change the way we make decisions, and the real core problem is that we DO get an immediate pay-off from eating. Our pay-off in foregoing doughnuts or chocolate are long-term and require extreme consistency in our decisions.

It’s a real dilemma.

What’s our key tool in the battle?

For me in 2017 in weight loss, and then in maintaining my weight through a devastating wild fire, and in keeping a limit on my weight gain this year all involved a key tool: My Big Goal.

A Big Goal is a vision of yourself a year from now, out living your most vibrant life.

Without it, you can definitely still lose weight, but when times get tough and you haven’t replaced the food with something, you are simply highly likely to start eating the doughnuts again. It’s really very obvious. It takes deliberate work and thought to prepare yourself for tough times and your own Big Goal is part of that arsenal.

None of this information is new to anyone who been around the Eat Like a Bear community for any time at all. I talk about it all that time. That’s how important it is.

If you’ve reviewed the information before, I’d encourage you to review it again.

We all need a Big Goal and we need to lean into it and to be ready to leverage it when times are tough.

All of this is a process of personal development, one that we will be in for all of the years of our lives. We might as well make some progress right now and get out and live in the benefits of our choices.

If you’ve been waiting, this is your time…..
