What a difficult world it is out there.

I had missed the news out of Texas. I live in a bit of a bubble these days. And then I saw the coverage…

I am so sorry for everyone touched by this and for humanity in general.

When times get really bad, all we can do is lean in.

That’s it. Moments like this are where we gain 100 pounds back. Recognize that point and do it differently this time.

We really need that sort of mindset anytime we come up against a big challenging thing in our lives.

I purposefully get more strict, not less.

Over my seven years of maintenance, this strategy has saved me from gaining an awful lot of pounds. I’m still up since my brain injury and I have bounced up and down a bit over these seven years.

There’s no magic in any of this, but there IS strategy: Get more strict when times get tough. Get more formulaic. Make sure you can whip up your meals in ten minutes or less. Keep everything simple so that the strictness is also simple. Practice it all now if you need to, because one of these days, you are bound to need to lean into that practice.

Those are my words of wisdom on this difficult week. May your life be filled with abundance and joy.
