Trade these vegetables for MEAT?
some say I should...
My post about dark chocolate last week had a number of people suggesting I go CARNIVORE!
Carnivore is a meat-only diet (or meat, eggs, and maybe cheese depending on the school).
Carnivore is zero carbs and most definitely doesn’t include dark chocolate.
It’s much like some of the other very restrictive diets, such as the egg fast, the cabbage soup diet, the military diet, or a vegetable-only diet. They share very restrictive boundaries and can help us cut out basically all big offenders, including dark chocolate.
Really strict boundaries can help us reign things in, but then the trick is, after implementing them, to build a bridge back into your primary way of eating.
I have known of a few people who continue the carnivore diet for years, but it seems that the vast majority of carnivores do not stay strict. They then need to work on a new set of boundaries, including how to keep out dark chocolate (or cheese cake or bourbon). There’s always something!
Why I lean so hard into my Ridiculously Big Meal approach is that I can go super-strict on it AND the bridge back to regular eating is there and somewhat obvious:
You can modify in maintenance by simply adding more to your one meal.
You can add more and split it in two or three meals.
At any point, you could add more meat (especially lean meats) and more vegetables to make the meal more satisfying.
I have eaten more than one meal a day this past year, all variations of my one meal model.
You can and should adjust your eating to meet your needs. Here are two Ridiculously Big Taco Salads, the first with meat: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QTXP7Mf6qK4&list=PLWIdJi6c6J810-F_4yItOR70AQSEiRwnf&index=12
the second vegan: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcuLBHFVTOU&list=PLWIdJi6c6J810-F_4yItOR70AQSEiRwnf&index=14
This meal approach works for me because it is a formulaic way of eating that I always have in my pocket. I know when I go out of bounds — any weight gain is no big surprise. I know what I need to do to stave it off.
All that said, a carnivore diet (or some other diet) may work for you very well. We each just need to find our own best solution.
