what I shopped for yesterday
you'll want to know WHY
I spent yesterday at an ethnic market and bought bones for broth as well as fresh turmeric, ginger, and tarot root, all for a soup made with wild stinging nettle.
The soup is healthy and vibrant and it now fills my freezer.
I made a similar soup a few years ago on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7-GrzEkdw-Q
It’s a Strategy
As a recipe, that nettle soup is a bit more involved than what is in my books. I do think we should prioritize SIMPLE above all else. The Bear books excel on this point: https://thebearshop.life/products/three-pack-print-book-collection
However, I do enjoy harvesting wild nettle and I enjoy exploring ethnic markets, and so why not leverage that enjoyment a bit on a day I am feeling well?
The shopping and soup-making is what I call a “Good Day Strategy” and has been a key to maintenance. I do projects like this when I am feeling good. It shores up my days when I am feeling bad.
In projects like this, I send an important signal to my future self: “I have made this soup to care for you.”
It sets my own expectations and intentions for how I am to navigate “sick days” and “bad days.” I am prepared to avoid the drive-through.
It’s a mindset I have emphasized in our course on maintenance (which I may make available again soon).
We are all simply FAR MORE likely to stave off the weight gain if we’re preparing for the future in such a positive, forward-looking way.
This Week
For you this week: Find a project around your house to make things easier for your future self. Do the project. Projects such as these are EXACTLY how we get through tough times.

That’s it!
I appreciate you.
